Introduction to Music (5 year olds)
This special class is for children who start year 1 at school. The class is about body movement with music, singing and rhythm.
Lessons are 40 minutes and held on Saturday mornings.
Classes are structured on a Kodaly syllabus, designed by Rowsell and Vinden (2008). Zoltan Kodaly (1882 - 1967) was a Hungarian composer and educator who believed that singing should be the foundation of all music education. He considered that when children learn naturally through singing games, play, poems, and tonal instruments (such as xylophones) they develop a 'musical ear'.
